ACCIÓN FARMACOLÓGICA= Pharmacological action: Alexifármaco. (suatancia que preserva o corrige los efectos de un veneno).

COMPOSICIÓN QUÍMICA= Chemical composition: Octacosane was isolated from the roots of H. laxiusculum; octatriacontane from the roots of H. connatum; hypericin and hyperin from the petals of several spp.; d-limonene and benzyl alc. from H. androsaemum; decanal and lauric acid (I) from H. perforatum; lauraldehyde and I from H. pulchrum; mannitol from roots and stems of H. perforatum. The toxic, photosensitized effects of H. perforatum are assigned to uroporphyrin III and to hypertrophic porphyrinemia.
